Challenge by the numbers

The challenge for this week was to create a card, layout, or paper craft in any theme using 1 ribbon, 2 cricut cuts, and 3 embellishments. I decided to make this birthday card using the George and Basic Shapes cartridge and Sweet Treats cartridge.
I started with a white card base that is 5.5x4.25. Then using smoothie cardstock I cut a circle from George and Basic Shapes at a height of 3.8" (as measured using the Gypsy. The circle is then cut in fourths. I then add a length of ribbon from my stash around a 3.5" square of Pear cardstock and then adhere this piece to the base on top of the circle quarters.

The cupcakes were cut from Sweet Treats cartrige at a height of 2.06" (as measured using the Gypsey) the base of the cupcakes were cut using Petal cardstock, the cupcake wrapper was cut from Pear cardstock and the heart on top was cut using Smoothie cardstock. I then added jewels as the embellishments on the cupcakes. The saying on the card is stamped on using Chocolate ink and Card Chatter: Birthday set from Close to My Heart.

Daily Project: Soul sister

Hi all! When I was growing up I remember my mom had a pair of shoes that were navy and white and were called spectators. I thought they were the coolest shoes but they were heels so I would never wear them. My card that I made today started out with a pair of pink shoes with a lighter shade of pink for the details. I didn't like the looks of this so I went with an off white and ended up with my mom's spectators on in pink. I can't tell her, but I think mine are way cooler.

My card began with a white base 5.5x4.25 I then added a pattern paper piece at 5.25x4, this was DCWV from my stash. I then added Memory Maker ribbon from my stash.

I used the cartridge Everyday Pop-Up cards to cut the shoes as well as the sign. The shoes were cut at a height of 2.04" (Gypsy) and the sign with the small shoes was cut at a height of 2.70" (Gypsy). The sign on the cartridge had the phrase "soul mate" but I decided to change that to "soul sister". This was cut from the cartridge Alphalicious at a height of 1" then using my Gypsy I welding all the letters together. I used a smallish pearl for the dot of the "i".

I then added pearls to the back of the shoes.

January Card Workshop

Wow! This month sure is flying by! I'm trying so hard to get projects completed and posted, and so far so good. Normally I'm putting finishing touches on cards the night of the workshop, but not this month. I'm so pleased with the way these cards turned out and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Happy Scrappin'!!!
Card #1 : Sonoma

For this card I started out with a white base then added pattern paper from Sonoma line, both rectangles are 5.25x2. The bamboo circle is cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge at 2". I used the Love Life stamp set specifically the scalloped circle with the flower (this was stamped using Smokey Plum)and the small inside flower was stamped using Petal. I then added 4 clear sparkles to finish it up.

Card #2 :Elemental

For this card again I started out with a white base. The pattern paper is from Elemental line.
Pacifica cardstock 3.75x3.25
Pacifica pattern 3.5x3.5
Sorbet cardstock 2.5x2.5
Colonial White cardstock 2.25x2.5
Sorbet pattern .75x5.5 and .75x4.25
I used the simple pleasures and 3 different sizes of stars all from the Love Life stamp set.

Card#3 :Elemental

Once again for this card we start out with a white base then add pattern paper from Elemental line. This is the Lagoon pattern and I have to admit, this is quickly becoming my favorite color for spring. Live, Laugh, Love and the hearts are from the Love Life stamp set.
lagoon pattern 5.25x4
lagoon cardstock 4x3.25
creme brulee pattern 3.75x3
desert sand 2x3
I stamped the hearts on Colonial white and cut out. Then added two opaques.

Card #4 :Sonoma

This is one of my favorite cards for this month because its purple. Everyone knows this is my absolutely positively favorite color (just about any shade).
petal cardstock 5.25x2
smokey plum cardstock 5.25x.5
pattern paper (Sonoma) 5.25x2
colonial white cardstock 2x3.5
I used the dotted circle stamp to create the background, it was stamped in petal. I did find that it is much easier to work from the top down using this stamp as a background stamp. I also used Amythyst to add 3 small hearts then 3 clear sparkles.

Card #5 :Elemental

This is also a favorite of mine, just because I think it's pretty cool.
Pacifica cardstock 5.25x4
Sorbet pattern 5x3.75
Pacifica cut 3"
colonial white cut 2.5"
sorbet cut 1"
sorbet pattern strip 5x.25
All cuts were made using the Art Philosophy cartridge.
The stamp image was the large flourish stamped in pacifica (some parts were left out since the shape wasn't big enough for the entire image to fit. I then used the sorbet ink to add several small hearts and then 3 opaques.

Card #6: Sonoma

Once again I used the dotted circles to create a background for the card.
sweet leaf cardstock: 5.25x4
pattern paper: 5.25x2.5
purple pattern: 5.25x1
olive cardstock: 5.25x.5
diamond pattern: 5.25x.25
I stamped three of the flower on colonial white using petal and then stamped the smaller flower on the inside using amythyst. The three sparkles in the center of the flowers is the perfect finishing touch.

Birthday Challenge

Hi All! Wow, seems January is really flying by. Before you know it we'll be smack dab into February and we'll probably finally have some snow, but it will probably be up to our kneees. Winter in Kentucky is interesting to say the least. We always tell visitors if they don't like the weather, wait a minute and it'll change. Considering we are also known as Sinus Valley, I'll take the snow and cold, at least my allergies get a little break.

For this weeks challenge we were asked to create a card, page, or paper project with a birthday theme, easy enough! To add a little twist you can only use the colors blue, green, yellow, white, and red. That made it a little more challenging for me. My resolution for this year is to really get into some of my cartridges that I havne't used in awhile, and so far I'm doing pretty good. This project is split, one cartridge I've never used and one that I use often.

I decided to create a birthday card for this challenge. I'm always needing a birthday card and by the time I realize I need one, it's too late to make one. It's kind of embarassing when the "card lady" has to send a store bought card. I started with a white base that was 5.5x4.25. I added a multi-colored stripe that was 5.25x4. The striped paper may look like I cheated a little but the darker stripes really are navy. I tried to use different colors of the blue and green. The present was cut using the Hello Kitty Greeting cartridge and the Height was cut at 4.18" as measured using the Gypsy. I believe I've been putting my dimensions down incorrectly in past projects. If I've put that I've measured using the Gypsy, then it's the height not the width that I've given. So sorry if this has caused any confusion. I used Crystal Blue, Sweet Leaf, and Sunny Yellow cardstock on the cut of the present. For the "Happy Birthday" I used the cartridge Calligraphy Collection and it was cut at 2.29" for the height. The saying was cut out using Sweet Leaf cardstock then layers onto a Sunny Yellow and White Daisy.

Recipe:
Pattern paper: stripe from Fanfare (CTMH)
Cardstock: White Daisy, Crystal Blue, Sweet Leaf, Sunny Yellow (CTMH)
Cartridges: Hello Kitty Greeting, Calligraphy Collection

Thank you for playing along with the challenge, and thanks for taking the time to look at my project!

Exploring Cricut Daily Project: Happy Birthday take 2

Today is my day to share a Cricut project with everyone. For this project I created a super simple card (it was Diane's birthday a while back). I know Diane likes the Miracle paper so I used some of it for the background of my birthday card. I then cut a gift from Sweet Treats at 3.35" (as measured by the Gypsy). I added a little silver sparkle on the circles and the bow. Very Very Simple!

Exploring Cricut Challenge: Winter Scene

Happy New Year everyone! I'm not usually one for making resolutions because I ultimately break them, but this year I am going to resolve to try to use cartridges that are collecting dust on my shelf. I feel, afterall, at one point there was something about each and every cartridge that made it a must have. So to start the year off right I used this thinking for this project. I won't say I've never used these cartridges, but it's been awhile and even then I only used one or two images. So, as the song says...." Let's get this party started!"

The challenge for this week is to create a page, card, or paper craft that depicts a winter scene or sport. For my project this week I decided to use the cartridges Animal Kingdom, Very Merry Tags, and Winter Frolic.

I started out with a picture frame that was purchased at our local Wal-Mart store (not an endorsment by any means). The frame was 8x10 so I cut my snowflake pattern paper to that size. I thought the blue and snowflakes made a perfectly peaceful evening sky. I then took a piece of White Daisy cardstock and cut a gentle wave using a CM trimmer. I layered these three pieces so that they resembled rolling hills or snow drifts. I only adhered the bottom edge so that I could slide my images that I cut between the layers. I then cut the Christmas trees using the Very Merry Tag cartridge at 4.65" (width according to the Gypsy). I cut 3 based using White Daisy (shadow) and the image using Topiary. I then cut 2 deer using the Animal Kingdom cartridge at 3" and 2.88" (width according to the Gypsy). The "female" deer is actually from a layer button so it didn't have the hooves and antlers. Once you layer it in the "snow drifts" you can't tell that the "female" doesn't have hooves. I used markers to color in the antlers, eyes, nose, and other shading. For the finishing touches on the deer, a little fun flock in white was added to their tails. The title came from the Winter Frolic cartridge. Silent Night was cut at 1.82" (width according to Gypsy) using White Daisy cardstock, then layered onto black cardstock and trimmed.
Thanks for viewing my project, and may you have a Happy New Year!!!

Materials used:
frame (Wal-mart), cardtock: White Daisy, topiary, Desert sand, black (CTMH), patterned paper: Woodland blue with snowflakes (CTMH), Markers: blush, chocolate, black (CTMH), Fun Flock: white (Stampendous), CM trimmer
